How the STRAPTOR System works
What is STRAPTOR?
<p>Tension is applied manually. Automatic retraction stores unused webbing in the mechanism when you release it.</p><p>Falcon uses a ratchet, Kestrel a cam buckle and Osprey mounts on the boat trailer. Choose according to the technical data, anchor points and load.</p>Secure. Tension. Release. The webbing retracts on its own.
Secure
Extend the webbing to the anchor point, position it over the load as appropriate for the application and attach the hooks. Unused webbing stays contained.
Tension
Adjust the strap using the ratchet or cam buckle, depending on the model. Check that the load is secure and the anchor points are correctly positioned.
Release and store
When you finish, release the mechanism and guide the webbing by hand as it returns to the reel. No winding by hand or tangles when storing it.
No excess webbing. No tangles. The webbing stays contained while you work: more control when tensioning and a strap that is much quicker to store.
Are self-retracting ratchet straps and retractable ratchet straps the same thing?
They describe the same product category: ratchet tie-down straps with an integrated retraction mechanism. STRAPTOR Falcon 700 is the ratchet range.
What is a self-retracting ratchet strap?

The figures shown are the breaking strength: the point at which the assembly fails during testing. They are not the recommended working load, which is always much lower. Never use breaking strength as the basis for designing a tie-down arrangement.
Falcon 700: two ways to retract the webbing
Standard provides direct retraction. Deceleration retracts the webbing more slowly and progressively. Both have the same lashing capacity: LC 350 daN and a breaking strength of 700 kg.

How does it compare with a conventional strap?
With a conventional strap, you secure the excess webbing and wind it up by hand when you finish. With STRAPTOR, that webbing stays inside the mechanism and retracts when you release the strap. View the comparison.
Care and maintenance
- Inspect the webbing before every use. If it is cut, frayed or burnt, take the strap out of service.
- Check that the hooks are not spread open or deformed and that the safety latch closes.
- Never exceed the stated maximum load and do not use the strap to lift loads: it is a tie-down product, not lifting equipment.
- Always use designated anchor points, not plastic parts, exhaust pipes or moving components.
- Share the load between the necessary number of straps. A single strap is rarely enough.
- Guide the webbing by hand as it retracts; do not let it snap back.
- Store straps dry. If exposed to salt water, rinse with fresh water and allow to dry before storage.
