How automatic webbing retraction works

1. Hook up

Fit the hooks onto suitable anchor points.

2. Tension by hand

Work the ratchet or the cam buckle until the load is held firmly. You control the tension, just as on a traditional strap.

3. Wind back in

When you have finished, release the mechanism and the webbing retracts automatically, leaving it tidy and ready for the next job.

Tensioning is always done by hand. The automatic system is there to wind the webbing back in, avoid tangles and stow the strap more quickly.
